Birthright Caribbean

A community for ambitious Caribbeans that looks to increase 1st and 2nd generation investment in the Caribbean.

The Experiment

Can curated events for Caribbean professionals cultivate community and increase 1st- and 2nd - generation investment in the Caribbean?

I am interested in creating a collaborative community of young, professional Caribbeans by curating empowerment events and birthright trips to the Caribbean. Our first objective would be an inaugural event in Atlanta (one of the most densely populated Caribbean cities in the US), with 30-35 attendees and a focus on women's empowerment.

Based on the outcomes of the post-event survey, we would be able to assess the extent to which attendees:

- are excited about the prospect of continuing to engage with the community
- got what they were looking for from the event
- would come to another event and what their interest level is in investing in the Caribbean.

We'll consider it a success if:

- 30-35 women attend
- we collect 10+ lbs of supplies to be donated directly to a Haitian-run disaster relief organization for Hurricane Matthew efforts
- we receive an 8 or above (out of a 10 point scale) overall satisfaction rating on the post-event survey.

Expected Duration: 12 Weeks
